This bedspread combines 100% beauty, design and recycled materials.

Lemon yellow parrot was designed by the beloved Rudolf Koivu. As delicious as a southern fruit, as exotic as the tropical night – beauty that only Rudolf Koivu can create. As a quilt, the Lemon yellow parrot is like a painting that pleases both the eye and conscience. The surface of the quilt is so soft to the touch that it’s almost hard to believe it is made from 100% recycled polyester. The polyester originates from recycled PET plastic bottles. The bottles are crushed and spun into a polyester yarn.

And where are the bottles from? They are collected from shopping centres and restaurants by private waste management companies in India, where plastic bottles are used in very large amounts without a plastic bottle system collection system similar to the one in Finland. India has strong expertise in the production of recycled textiles. That is why we decided to have the product made in India by a responsible and highly competent partner.

Approximately 15–20 bottles can be recovered in the production of a single quilt. The quilt’s size is 130 x 170 cm. The ends of the quilt feature white fringes as a finishing touch.

The product has been granted the STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX certificate, indicating that the product does not contain harmful chemicals and is safe to use.

We make continuous effort to improve the sustainability of our products. Every day, we replace some of the ordinary cotton in our products with more sustainable materials, such as certified organic and Fair Trade cotton, recycled materials and linen. The emissions of this product have been successfully reduced by using recycled cotton.
