Product informationA durable cleaning cloth is something you should always have within your reach. You can use it to quickly wipe a surface clean or mop up spilled milk. We asked ourselves whether a cleaning cloth could be not only durable but also easy on the eye and comfortable in the hand. The answer was a resounding yes. Siisti cleaning cloths are made from soft knitted cotton, which makes them nice to hold. They come in a cheery yellow as well as grey. The cleaning cloths can be machine washed at 60 degrees, so you can simply toss them in the washing machine after use. The size of the cleaning cloth is 28 x 28 cm. Each set contains three cleaning cloths.
We do not compromise on the quality of the cotton or the transparency of the supply chain in the slightest. That is why we use organic cotton. This product is made from 100% organic cotton and is GOTS certified. The cultivation of GOTS-certified cotton makes more efficient use of rainwater and employs natural fertilisers and pesticides. Best of all, the GOTS certificate makes the organic cotton easily traceable. We can trace the whole path from field to finished product.
Good news! Our Siisti cleaning cloths are part of our CO2/NEG. product series in which we have doubly compensated for all of the greenhouse gas emissions caused in the manufacture of the products. Therefore, we can even call these products carbon-negative. In addition to cleaning cloths, the product series includes Finnish bar soaps, scent products for the home and decorative cushions. We want to make the world and everyone’s life a little better, allowing the use of our products with an even better conscience. This is yet another step towards this goal.
The production of this set of cleaning cloths generated emissions of 0.47 kg CO2e per piece. Therefore, the compensation for this product is 0.94 kg CO2e per piece.
The emissions are broken down as follows:
•Production of raw materials 25.35%
• Energy consumption at the production plant 0.70%
• Transport 73.94%
What does emissions compensation mean?
It means that we purchase rights from the EU’s official emissions trading market via a company named CO2esto to doubly compensate for the greenhouse gas emissions generated in the manufacture of each product. Through the EU’s emissions trading, emissions are sure to decrease, as the rights purchased are omitted from the use of Europe’s biggest sources of emissions and thereby a similar amount of emissions is not generated.
How did we calculate the emissions of the products?
We have calculated the greenhouse gas emissions of production from the manufacture of raw materials all the way to Finlayson’s shops and webshop. The phases taken into consideration in the calculations were the manufacture of raw materials, energy consumption of the plant, logistics and also emissions relating to the packaging of the products. The emissions estimate was calculated using the carbon footprint calculator of the OpenCO2.net platform and the emission factor data in its emissions database and scientific articles. -
